Color Theory for Fiber Artists
This workshop is designed to give people working in the textile field access to unlimited color.
Using a variety of color systems, exercises, and hands-on experience in the dye pot, participants will develop their own personal color signature.
It is particularly designed to meet the need of weavers.
It will cover a number of techniques such as kasauri, painted warp, and space dyeing used in combination with warp design and patterning to create special color effects.
We will use a variety of dyes, both ancient and modern, and students will acquire a good understanding of proper dye studio procedures.
During the workshop, students will dye a wide variety of yarns and fabrics, both animal and vegetable, including silk, camel, cashmere, linen, and cotton.
No. of Participants: 15 students.
Suitable for both experienced and beginners.
Equipment: Students should bring pen, paper, glue stick notebook, scissors; magazines with good color, newspaper, masking tape, waterproof pen, plastic bags (1 box sandwich bags), rubber gloves, and wear studio clothing.
Supplies: $10.00 fiber fee for the dye sample yarns.
