Taming the Twist: All about Cables

If you're not sure what a cable is, or why you might want to make one, this workshop is for you. This simple technique is the basic structure for many complex yarns. The variations are endless, and so are the uses. Nomatter what the job -- making perfect socks, creating richly textured yarns or roping your pony can create the ideal yarn. In this workshop, you will learn to make a wide variety of cables using wools, cashmere, silk, mohair, cotton and bast fibers. We'll also explore the many interesting color effects these yarns produce. We'll look at how they are used to make and embellish fabric by weavers, spinners, and embroiderers.
